Go With Howdy began with a remarkable dog named Brock, a campfire conversation, and a simple phrase that became a way of doing business.

Chapter 1

Meeting Brock

I first met Brock when he was a tiny eight-week-old puppy. He was a Golden Labrador from Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), an organization dedicated to training service dogs for people with disabilities and veterans.

I watched him receive one of his very first baths, the beginning of a journey that would eventually touch thousands of lives. The Canine Companions for Independence story became a central part of my own story, leading to a long-term commitment that has raised over $1.8 million for The Veteran Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence.

Chapter 2

The Hotel Dog

Brock spent seven years coming to work with me every single day. He wasn't just a pet; he was an ambassador for The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. He was there with guests in the lobby, with employees in the back offices, and at major events.

He had a way of bringing people together. Stress seemed to melt away when Brock walked into a room. He taught me that business is about more than balance sheets—it's about the connections we make and the atmosphere we create.

Chapter 3

The Ambassador

Brock became a true ambassador. He worked with veterans, participated in fundraising events, and was a catalyst for employee engagement. He represented the very best of our values: loyalty, service, and presence.

Through his presence, we were able to raise over $1.8 million for The Veteran Initiative of Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). He showed us that when you lead with a heart for service, the impact you can make is limitless.

The Campfire

The name "Go With Howdy" was born during a campfire conversation. A friend of mine—nicknamed Howdy—offered to take Brock for a walk. As Brock looked at me for permission, I said the words that would define my future businesses:

"Go with Howdy."

In that moment, it wasn't just about a walk. It was about trust. I trusted Howdy to look after Brock. I realized that in business, that's what everyone is looking for: someone they can trust.
